POWERS
Armored Form Piotr can transform essentially instantaneously into something akin to organic steel. When in this form he does not need to eat, drink water, breathe, or sleep, and is highly durable, dense, and incredibly strong. Somewhat counterintuitively, Piotr becomes faster and has more endurance in this form. He also gains about a foot in height. He can hold this form as long as he wants, though generally on passing out he reverts. This was averted by the Soviet Russian government by encasing him in a synthetic form of organic steel.
  • Can only transform the entirety of his body.
  • Is resistant to high and low temperatures, but cannot withstand overly extreme ones. Can be injured by adamantium, as well as incredibly high impact attacks.
  • It requires some concentration to change, so if he is severely injured or otherwise unable to concentrate, he cannot transform.
SKILLS
PAINTING A skilled painter in both oils and acrylics, though he prefers the former. He tends to paint dreamy landscapes when left to his own devices, but can render portraits as well. He's dabbled some in watercolor, but is still learning.
FARM WORK Piotr can and will do any manual labor asked of him, no matter how difficult or, potentially, gross. He spent most of his time growing up helping on local farms, and is used to troubleshooting various problems without becoming frustrated or deterred. He's very strong, even when not in his armored form. General understanding of farming techniques and plant husbandry, though, like everything else, all his knowledge is from the 70s and 80s.
MULTILINGUAL Fluent in Russian and, thanks to Professor Xavier, fluent in English, he guesses. This is all very new.
COMBAT Taken by the KGB and forced into a mutant task force, Piotr is skilled in Systema, a once secretive combat method favored by Soviet forces. It's a surprisingly relaxed and adaptable martial art, focused on natural movement and responsiveness as opposed to forms. It includes firearm and knife training as well.
APPEARANCE
HAIR blonde, kept short EYES grey HEIGHT 6'6"
Piotr is broad-shouldered, muscular, tall, and square-jawed, so he cuts an imposing figure, even though his personality is at odds with this. While not particularly vain, he takes care of himself and his appearance, always clean-cut and clean-shaven with his hair cut to his desired length. A bit of control in a life that has been terribly uncontrollable for some time. His clothing choices are simple and, ultimately, boring - neutral colors with staple items like t-shirts, flannels, sweaters, jeans, canvas pants, and work boots. He takes impeccable care of all his belongings, hoping to make things last as long as they can.

These days he appears rather aloof most of the time, and is slow to smile. He will, however, soften his expression if he notices someone noticing him. He speaks softly and evenly, considering his words before he says them. In contrast to Illyana's recklessness, Piotr's approach to most things is incredibly measured unless time is limited.

PERSONALITY At his core, Piotr is a kind, gentle person, more concerned about the well-being of others than himself. He is generous, loyal, and thoughtful, with a strong moral compass and a desire to help others as much as he can. But various trials over the years have changed him in ways that, while not fundamental, make him seem quite different than he was. Where in the past he was quiet but open about himself, he's now rather reserved and private. Where he was sensitive and emotionally honest, now he tends to keep his expression constantly tamed and is hesitant to acknowledge his feelings. He's more superstitious than he used to be growing up. Always someone who disliked violence, he's currently almost pathologically averse, often freezing when it seems he needs to inflict damage.

Bottling up all his feelings has consequences, though, and he is prone to angry outbursts when he becomes too frustrated with himself or is overwhelmed with a situation. These episodes dissipate swiftly, though, and he's quick to extract himself from situations when they arise. This makes him a little more hesitant to interact with others than he already was.

Still, he is curious and ultimately enjoys being around people most of the time, and will seek out quiet companionship or conversations even if he is reticent to talk about himself. The only things he remains openly enthusiastic about are art and classical music, things he will talk at length about if given the opportunity. As someone who has been in suspended animation since the early 90s, he is receptive to learning and will ask questions without shame, though he'll try to make sure that he doesn't ask too many too often. That's just not polite.

He will, at least initially, wander off somewhat often to get himself some space.
HISTORY
FAMILY Nikolai & Alexandra Rasputin, parents. In their 80s. They still reside in Ust-Ordynski.
Mikhail Rasputin, older brother, cosmonaut. Presumed deceased.
Illyana Rasputina younger (sort of) sister, X-Man Acolyte aligned with the X-Men.
Grigori Rasputin, paternal ancestor. Presumed deceased.
Born in a small farming town in the USSR, and for a while the youngest of two, Piotr was a quiet, sweet child. Always helpful, always polite, he was often doted on by the older women in the village, who liked to encourage his softer side. Seeing his interest in art, they gave him supplies whenever they had them, providing him with the chance to make art himself.

When he was 9 Illyana was born, and he immediately became attached. A natural-born caretaker, he helped raise her, sharing much of his time (and his hobbies) with her. Life was relatively quiet - with school, farming, spending time with his family, and painting, his days were filled with things that he enjoyed. Even when his powers manifested, leaving him momentarily off balance, the community supported him.

When Mikhail's spacecraft failed, cracks started to appear in the content life he was living. He tried to remain strong for his parents and managed to do so with relative success, but the next year brought Illyana's disappearance. Overwhelmed with feelings while trying to manage his parents', Piotr became very withdrawn, sullen, and even a little combative. He still helped those in the community, but occasionally had outbursts that strained his relationship with some of the locals and even his parents. His days ran together, and while he still took solace in painting, his work became darker and he'd become frustrated with it sometimes, to the point of destroying canvases.

When he was 20, KGB agents suddenly showed up at the Rasputin's door and took him away. With threats against his family and town to keep him in line, Piotr was placed in a secretive mutant task force. For four years he worked with the group, performing various acts of espionage and violence to further Soviet Russia's goals. By 1991 though, the government was on the verge of collapse, and when it fell his handlers had him encased in synthetic organic steel, hoping to revive him when he could be useful again. Eventually, though, he was forgotten in a basement, and it took nearly 20 years for him to be rediscovered by an oligarch that had bought the compound he was left in. He was brought home and put on display, where he has remained, still suspended in time.
TIMELINE
╳
1975 - AGE 8/9 Illyana is born, much to Piotr's excitement. He quickly falls into the role of big brother and tries to help out with her as much as he can, even as she grows.
╳
1979 - AGE 12/13 Piotr's powers manifest, and while initially it makes him (and others in the town) nervous, it becomes quickly apparent what a boon it is for the community. His kindness and willingness to help others also helps make all the other inhabitants of Ust-Ordynski agree to keep his abilities a secret from outsiders.
╳
1984 - AGE 17/18 Piotr's older brother, Mikhail, presumably dies in a manned spaceflight when his craft goes down. While understandably upset, he does his best to maintain a strong face for his family's benefit.
╳
1985 - AGE 18/19 Piotr's younger sister, Illyana, is abducted from her room, leaving him as the only remaining Rasputin sibling. He becomes more withdrawn and even a little hostile at times, and occasionally gets into fights with other local young men, though he never does any real damage.
╳
1987 - AGE 20/21 The KGB show up at the Rasputin's door and take Piotr away, without any clear indication of how he came to their notice. He is put into a secretive mutant strike force for the USSR. Though technically forced to participate under threats to his family and hometown, a part of him feels like this is what he deserves.
╳
1991 - AGE 24/25 Soviet Russia collapses, putting an end to the task force Piotr has been on for years. Not wanting one of their powerful operatives to be taken away and hoping that he could be revived for future use, Piotr is forced into his organic steel form and encased in synthetic organic steel, putting him into suspended animation.
╳
1999 As the original group of handlers and scientists die off or drift and the buildings decay, Piotr is eventually forgotten in the basement of the lab he's housed in.
╳
2012 Piotr's encased form is found by an eccentric, art-obsessed oligarch after he bought and begins to clean up the old labs. He's eventually brought to his sprawling estate, where he is put on display as an odd work of art. It's unclear if the oligarch realizes what he actually has in his possession.
╳
2025 Still on display, currently in an art wing of the oligarch's estate.
