Piotr is broad-shouldered, muscular, tall, and square-jawed, so he cuts an imposing figure, even though his personality is at odds with this. While not particularly vain, he takes care of himself and his appearance, always clean-cut and clean-shaven with his hair cut to his desired length. A bit of control in a life that has been terribly uncontrollable for some time. His clothing choices are simple and, ultimately, boring - neutral colors with staple items like t-shirts, flannels, sweaters, jeans, canvas pants, and work boots. He takes impeccable care of all his belongings, hoping to make things last as long as they can. These days he appears rather aloof most of the time, and is slow to smile. He will, however, soften his expression if he notices someone noticing him. He speaks softly and evenly, considering his words before he says them. In contrast to Illyana's recklessness, Piotr's approach to most things is incredibly measured unless time is limited.
REFS: X, X
Bottling up all his feelings has consequences, though, and he is prone to angry outbursts when he becomes too frustrated with himself or is overwhelmed with a situation. These episodes dissipate swiftly, though, and he's quick to extract himself from situations when they arise. This makes him a little more hesitant to interact with others than he already was.
Still, he is curious and ultimately enjoys being around people most of the time, and will seek out quiet companionship or conversations even if he is reticent to talk about himself. The only things he remains openly enthusiastic about are art and classical music, things he will talk at length about if given the opportunity. As someone who has been in suspended animation since the early 90s, he is receptive to learning and will ask questions without shame, though he'll try to make sure that he doesn't ask too many too often. That's just not polite.
He will, at least initially, wander off somewhat often to get himself some space.
Mikhail Rasputin, older brother, cosmonaut. Presumed deceased.
Illyana Rasputina younger (sort of) sister,
Grigori Rasputin, paternal ancestor. Presumed deceased.
When he was 9 Illyana was born, and he immediately became attached. A natural-born caretaker, he helped raise her, sharing much of his time (and his hobbies) with her. Life was relatively quiet - with school, farming, spending time with his family, and painting, his days were filled with things that he enjoyed. Even when his powers manifested, leaving him momentarily off balance, the community supported him.
When Mikhail's spacecraft failed, cracks started to appear in the content life he was living. He tried to remain strong for his parents and managed to do so with relative success, but the next year brought Illyana's disappearance. Overwhelmed with feelings while trying to manage his parents', Piotr became very withdrawn, sullen, and even a little combative. He still helped those in the community, but occasionally had outbursts that strained his relationship with some of the locals and even his parents. His days ran together, and while he still took solace in painting, his work became darker and he'd become frustrated with it sometimes, to the point of destroying canvases.
When he was 20, KGB agents suddenly showed up at the Rasputin's door and took him away. With threats against his family and town to keep him in line, Piotr was placed in a secretive mutant task force. For four years he worked with the group, performing various acts of espionage and violence to further Soviet Russia's goals. By 1991 though, the government was on the verge of collapse, and when it fell his handlers had him encased in synthetic organic steel, hoping to revive him when he could be useful again. Eventually, though, he was forgotten in a basement, and it took nearly 20 years for him to be rediscovered by an oligarch that had bought the compound he was left in. He was brought home and put on display, where he has remained, still suspended in time.
